This site is designed to track my search of Modern architecture in Central New Jersey. The beginning focus will be Princeton Campus and Princeton Township. The process is not as easy as it seems, being that there is not a wealth of information about the sites. I also have to dig up and search out the locations and the existence of Modern buildings. Documentation of the buildings creates awareness and awareness helps prevent these buildings from being demolished. unfortunately, many Modern buildings are not protected in the Historical Register because  it’s difficult to assume that something built in the 1970s is old and should be preserved. Sadly, some Modern buildings have already been destroyed in the Princeton campus without a lot of documentation about what was once standing.

As a Central NJ resident, what was built and occupied is my history and heritage. With almost no land left to purchase in NJ, buildings that are not recognized as important stand threatened by suburban sprawl. It is important to preserve and document what we can. Just like there is a Colonial heritage in Central NJ so is there a Modern heritage and we should be proud of it and everything in between.
